Day 1 – City Orientation and Table Mountain

Join us for an orientation tour of Cape Town, the Mother City, as we venture through the streets crowded with history since 1652 when the first Dutch Governor set foot on the shores nearby. From the City Hall where Nelson Mandela gave his liberation speech to the rich culture of Bo Kaap, together with spectacular scenery, Cape Town has it all. This tour includes pointing out historic buildings of importance in the city centre, drive through picturesque Bo Kaap –

the traditional Malay Charter and we visit the:

  • Castle of Good Hope
  • South Africa’s oldest building
  • District Six Museum
  • reliving the tragedies of the past
  • South Africa Museum
  • Short guided visit to Green Market Square
Take a casual walk through the Company’s Gardens – buy peanuts and get a chance to feed the squirrels. View the old slave lodge and the Parliamentary Buildings. Optional drop- off at the V&A Waterfront.

Day 2 - On Route to Montague / Oudtshoorn

Lying between Cape Town and Oudtshoorn on Route 62 - South Africa’s version of America’s Route 66 blessed with scenery to take your breath away, some of the country’s finest wines and advertised as the longest wine route.

Day 3
On Route to Oudtshoorn
Our journey today takes us to Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich capital of the world – nowhere else are ostriches found in such great numbers and nowhere else do they produce feathers of such fine quality – but the world’s biggest bird is just one of the many attractions in this area of enormous contrasts. We visit the famous Congo Caves where we take a guided tour of more than a hour through the world’s greatest show limestone’s caves- promising to be full of fascination. This is the most beautiful stalactite, stalagmite dripstone cave in the world. We set off to the Congo Cheetah & Crocodile Wildlife Ranch farm to see the breeding of these frightening reptiles – see crocodiles, cheetahs, Bengal tigers, lions, jaguars and puma – (optional: opportunity to touch a cheetah). We end the day by visiting an Ostrich Show Farm for a spectacular and informative tour. We check into our Hotel and dinner is at a country house for local cuisine or their famous ostrich dishes.

Day 4 On Route to Knysna

After late morning departure we drive you into town for an opportunity to walk around and a shopping experience before we
head via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to George, known as the heart of the Southern Cape, beautifully located on a
picturesque coastal plateau, two estuaries through Wilderness takes you into Knysna where we meet up again at famous Knysna
Waterfront.

Day 5 On Route to Cape Town
 
After breakfast we take a guided boat cruise to the Heads, two sandstone sentinels that make the month of the Knysna Lagoon. We enjoy lunch on the Lagoon, which is part of a biologically rich and fascinating body of water, with salt marshes, and deep-water channels that are home to such animals as the endangered Knysna Seahorse, an unusual fish that’s found only in Knysna, Plettenberg bay and Sedge field -and nowhere else in the world. The rest of the day is spent at leisure to explore beautiful Knysna.
